DDA and Equality Act access improvements

DDA accessibility works for communal areas

Practical improvements that make shared spaces easier and safer for disabled residents, visitors and staff: handrails, ramps, contrasting step edges and threshold changes.

  • DBS-checked

Every member of our team, so we can work in occupied homes and care settings.

  • No VAT added

We are not VAT registered. The price we quote is the price you pay.

  • Photo report

Before and after photos on every job, for your records.

DDA or Equality Act?

Most people still say "DDA compliance". The Disability Discrimination Act was replaced by the Equality Act 2010, which requires service providers and many landlords to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. The aim is the same: spaces everyone can use.

Improvements we carry out

  • Continuous handrails on both sides of stairs and along corridors
  • Colour-contrasting rails and step edges
  • Ramps and threshold ramps at entrances and fire exits
  • Changes to steps and landings

Accessible doors

Automatic doors, door opening forces and accessible entrance doors are handled by our sister company, Essex Door & Window Repairs, so the whole route in can be covered between us.

Your report

After every job you get a short written report with before and after photos. It is evidence for your records, your inspector, your client or a deposit dispute.

Common questions

Can you carry out an access audit?

We can walk the building with you and recommend practical improvements. For a formal access audit, use a qualified access consultant and we can carry out the works they recommend.
