Handrails, roof edge protection and safe access

Safe routes in, around and over your building: DDA handrails at entrances, GRP handrails and walkways, guardrails at roof edges, step-overs on flat roofs, and anti-slip coatings where people walk.

Accessibility at ground level, safety at height

The same thinking runs through all of it: people need something solid to hold, a surface that will not catch them out, and a clear, protected route. On the ground that means handrails, ramps and anti-slip finishes. On the roof it means guardrails, walkways and step-overs.

Who we do this for

  • Care homes and supported living services
  • Block and estate managers
  • Schools, facilities managers and commercial building owners
  • Housing associations and landlords

The rules behind it

The Equality Act 2010 expects reasonable adjustments so disabled people can use a building. The Work at Height Regulations 2005 expect anyone going onto a roof to be protected, with collective measures such as guardrails preferred over personal equipment like harnesses.

Common questions

Do you survey before quoting?

Yes. We measure the route or roof, check what the handrail or guardrail can fix to, and quote from that.

Can you combine access work with roof repairs?

Yes. If we are on the roof fitting guardrails or a walkway, we can repair tiles, flashing or gutters in the same visit.
