Built around residents, not around us
A care setting is someone's home. We agree times with your manager, keep corridors clear and safe while residents move around, and tidy as we go so rooms are ready to use the same day wherever possible.
Every member of our team is DBS-checked, so you can let us work in occupied areas with confidence.
What we do for care providers
- Grab rails beside toilets, baths, showers and beds
- Continuous handrails along corridors and stairs, in a colour that contrasts with the wall
- Ramps, threshold ramps and level access to gardens, entrances and fire exits
- Accessibility improvements to communal areas, in line with the Equality Act
- DDA handrails at entrances and anti-slip finishes on steps and ramps
- Damp and mould treatment, with the cause found and fixed
- Extractor fans and ventilation for bathrooms, kitchens and laundries
- Roofing and guttering repairs, so leaks never reach residents' rooms
- Planned maintenance visits on a fixed annual price
Records that stand up to an inspection
CQC expects premises and equipment to be clean, secure and properly maintained. We give you a written report with photos after every job, so you can show what was found, what was done and when.
One contractor for the whole building
Rather than chasing separate trades for rails, damp and the roof, you have one point of contact who knows the building. For automatic doors, fire doors and accessible entrance doors, we hand over to our sister company, Essex Door & Window Repairs.
Common questions
Are your staff DBS-checked?
Yes. Everyone who works on site for Hands On is DBS-checked.
Can you work while residents are in the building?
Yes. That is normal for us. We agree times with your manager, keep work areas safe and tidy, and avoid mealtimes or other busy periods if you ask.
Do you follow an occupational therapist's recommendations?
Yes. Where a resident has been assessed, we fit rails and access aids to the OT's recommended positions and heights.
Do you do maintenance contracts for care homes?
Yes. A planned maintenance contract gives you scheduled visits, priority for reactive jobs and a fixed annual cost.
